BOTOX reduces the activity of muscles, relaxing the skin and softening the appearance of wrinkles. This look is achieved by injecting small doses into specific muscles, which creates a natural softening of unwanted lines and wrinkles without removing your facial expressions.

Injectable fillers and neuromodulators are best administered by a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who understands skin issues and has knowledge of molecular anatomy. If BOTOX is not injected properly, one can lose the action of the muscles of expression.

BOTOX, by Allergan, is a purified protein made from a bacterium called “Clostridium botulinum Type A.” BOTOX has been used medically and cosmetically for more than 25 years and, when used correctly, is one of the safest cosmetic treatments performed today.

BOTOX can soften or diminish the lines, wrinkles, or furrows on your face. In the hands of a board-certified skin expert who is skilled and experienced, BOTOX can return your natural, youthful appearance.

BOTOX is used to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead furrows caused by muscle contraction. It can also be used to treat lines on the neck. There are also areas that can be treated "off-label", including the masseter (jaw) muscle, platysma bands in the neck, and some areas of the lower face. It can also be used in the underarms to treat excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis.

Although many practices, including ours, provide pricing per unit, the number of units you will need is dependent on the area you wish to treat and your muscle strength.

Neuromodulator results become apparent in the first three to five days after treatment and in about seven days for full results. Treatments last for three to four months. For best results, three to four treatments are recommended per year. After repeated injections, the results may be even longer lasting.

Most patients say BOTOX treatments are no more painful than a mosquito bite. Administered by a skilled and experienced provider, the tiny injections should be quick and nearly painless!

BOTOX has an excellent safety record, with millions of procedures performed annually and side effects that are typically mild and temporary. Like any medicine, it carries risk and dosing matters, which is why it should be carefully administered in small, appropriate doses.

It is recommended to avoid blood thinners such as Aspirin, NSAIDS (Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen), and high doses of Vitamin E 3-5 days before treatment. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is okay if needed. Avoiding alcohol a week before and after treatment can help prevent excess bruising and swelling.

Depending on the area treated, you can expect some minor, temporary swelling or redness, similar to the appearance of a mosquito bite. Ice packs can help speed recovery from the treatment.

A lip flip uses a small amount of a neuromodulator such as BOTOX® or Dysport® placed at the upper lip border. Relaxing that muscle lets more of the upper lip roll outward, which reads as a slightly fuller lip without adding any volume. Neuromodulators are not FDA-approved for this use, so a lip flip is an off-label treatment. If you are after actual volume and shape, that is lip filler. Your provider will tell you which fits your anatomy at the consultation.
