Lips that still look like yours.
Most patients who ask about lip filler are not asking to look like someone else. They want back the lip they had, or the shape that balances the rest of the face. Dr. Hubbell and the injectors at Hubbell Dermatology & Aesthetics treat the lip as one part of the whole face, choosing product and volume around your existing proportion rather than a single house look. First treatments here are deliberately conservative, and more can always be added at a later visit.
Your visit, step by step
1
Consult & mapping
Your goals, your lip anatomy, and a clear plan. Your provider selects the product and the amount, and gives you the quote before anything is treated.
2
Numbing
Lips are numbed with a topical anesthetic first, and the fillers used contain lidocaine. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain.
3
Treatment
Filler is placed by the dermatologist in small amounts, shaping the body of the lip, the border, and the philtrum as your anatomy calls for. Most first treatments take about twenty minutes.
4
Swelling & settling
Lips swell more than any other filler area. The first one to three days look fuller than the final result. Your true outcome shows at about two weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Does lip filler hurt?
Lips are numbed with a topical anesthetic before treatment, and the fillers used contain lidocaine. Most patients describe the sensation as pressure rather than pain, and the treatment itself takes about twenty minutes.
How much does lip filler cost in Lafayette?
Lip filler is priced per syringe, and most first treatments use half a syringe to one full syringe. Because the right amount depends on your anatomy and your goals, you receive an exact quote at your consultation before anything is treated. Financing is available through CareCredit, PatientFi, and Alphaeon Credit.
How long does lip filler last?
Typically six to twelve months. Lips move constantly, so filler placed there tends to break down faster than filler in the cheeks or jawline. Longevity also varies by product and by how quickly your body metabolizes hyaluronic acid.
Will my lips look overdone?
Not the way we treat them. First treatments here are deliberately conservative, and product is chosen for how it behaves in a moving lip rather than for maximum volume. More can always be added at a later visit. Taking volume away is the harder direction, so we start small.
How long does the swelling last?
Lips swell more than any other filler area. Expect the first one to three days to look fuller than the final result, with most swelling gone within a week. Your true outcome shows at about two weeks. Minor bruising is possible and settles on its own.
What is the difference between lip filler and a lip flip?
Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid to add volume and shape to the lip itself. A lip flip uses a small amount of a neuromodulator such as BOTOX® or Dysport® at the upper lip border to relax the muscle so more of the upper lip rolls outward, without adding any volume. Neuromodulators are not FDA-approved for this use, so a lip flip is an off-label treatment. Which approach suits your anatomy is a consultation question.
Can lip filler be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers, which are what we use in lips, can be dissolved with an injection of hyaluronidase. This is one of the reasons hyaluronic acid is the standard choice for lips.
Who performs the injections?
Dr. Hubbell personally performs the injections. Injectables are best administered by a board-certified dermatologist who understands the skin and the underlying facial anatomy.
