MOLES

a spot on the skin occurring on any part of the body.

WHAT ARE MOLES?

A skin mole is a spot on the skin occurring on any part of the body. A skin mole can be small or large; usually round or oval in shape; and may be colored pink, brown, red, or black. A skin mole may be flat or raised. Some will sprout a few hairs, which is normal. Many moles are not visible at birth but will darken as one ages. At Hubbell Dermatology & Aesthetics, we have a team of practitioners and treatment solutions to diagnose and develop your skin mole condition. We help you remove those unsightly moles easily and quickly, but we also make sure that these moles are not an indication of any other skin condition. Let our board-certified dermatologist help with your mole removal. We’re located in the heart of Lafayette, Louisiana. Call 337-981-6065 for an appointment.

MOLES

Skin moles should be checked regularly since they all can potentially become skin cancer. Sudden changes to look for are bleeding, rapid growth, and irregular size. These changes may signify the development of cancer of the basal or squamous cells of the skin. Malignant basal cells are not likely to spread to other parts of the body. However, they can become exceptionally large and cause a great deal of scarring upon removal. Malignant squamous cells can metastasize quickly, spreading cancerous cells to other parts of the body.

The most innocent skin moles should be watched for changes. Changes in a skin mole or multiple moles require immediate attention by a physician. A skin mole can be removed using several different methods.

TREATMENT OF WORRISOME MOLES
