Photodynamic
Therapy

Clears acne, smooths texture, reduces pores and corrects pigmentation.
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a revolutionary treatment for acne skin rejuvenation and pre-cancerous lesions. Acne or Skin Rejuvenation PDT treatments using Levulan involve the application of a photosensitizing agent which is then activated with light. This procedure is nearly painless and can help your skin to look smoother and more natural. Acne treatments come in all shapes and sizes, and this is one of the more advanced options. Schedule a consultation appointment to see if photodynamic therapy is right for you. This therapy results in significant improvements in:
- moderate to severe acne
- oiliness
- pore size
- skin texture
- pigmentation

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY REDUCES ROSACEA AND PRE-CANCEROUS GROWTHS

Being sunburned even as little as just once before the age of 18 years old increases the risk of Actinic Keratosis. Actinic Keratosis, the earliest form of cancerous lesions, occurs most often on the skin surface of people with fair skin.

The Keratosis is identified as a persistent, discreet, slightly-raised, and rough lesion. It is classified as a precancerous growth, and when left untreated, can develop into squamous cell carcinoma (which can become deadly). Treating the lesions before they have a chance to become cancer is your best defense.

ALTERNATIVE TO ACCUTANE-TYPE MEDICATIONS

Photodynamic acne treatment involves three mechanisms of action against acne:
1. Levulan treatment inactivates the bacteria that triggers acne.
2. Exfoliates the skin to unclog pores.
3. Shuts down the sebaceous glands in the skin This is exciting because sebaceous glands are the root cause in the formation of acne so it has a long-lasting effect even on severe acne.
