Rhinoplasty, or more commonly known as a nose job, is one of the procedures where a little improvement can go a long way. The nose is such a pivotal facial feature that even small corrections to its size, shape, or position can improve the balance of the overall face. If your nose has caused you distress or insecurity, a rhinoplasty may be what you need.
What is Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a surgery that changes the shape of the nose. The motivation for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing or both. The upper portion of the structure of the nose is bone, and the lower portion is cartilage. Rhinoplasty can change bone, cartilage, skin or all three. At Hubbel Dermatolody & Aesthetics, we offer open rhinoplasty that is performed by creating a small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils in somewhat of a W-shaped. There are also small incisions hidden inside of the nostrils.

FAQ's
What is the advantage of open rhinoplasty?
The biggest advantage of open rhinoplasty is that the surgeon will have a direct visual on the cartilage and nasal structure throughout the entire process, which often leads to a satisfying end result for the patient. Being that the surgeon is working with optimum visibility, they are better able to manipulate and alter the shape of the nose with better control and precision than what is permitted via the closed process.
How do I know if I'm a good candidate for rhinoplasty?
When you consult with Dr. Kennedy, she will carefully review your medical history and expectations to help you determine if rhinoplasty is right for you.
What is the best age for Rhinoplasty?
Once an individual is physically and emotionally mature enough to consider surgery, any age is appropriate for rhinoplasty surgery. This procedure is typically not considered until a patient has reached puberty, but can be performed at any time throughout adulthood.
Is Rhinoplasty painful?
During the procedure you will be under general anesthesia and won't feel any pain during that time. Slight bleeding and drainage of mucus and old blood are common for a few days after the surgery which might cause discomfort or pain at times. Because everyone heals differently, it's important to continue to be patient during your rhinoplasty recovery. It is normal to still be experiencing swelling, slight pain, bruising, and even headaches four weeks after your procedure. At three months, swelling has improved and ~50% of the result is visible. Some swelling typically remains in the nasal tip, and at 8 months 80% of the result is visible. It takes one full year for the final result of a rhinoplasty.
