Sculptra® is the first regenerative facial injectable that provides for long-lasting and maintained results. It gives you subtle results over time by replacing lost collagen and giving you a more natural-looking appearance. Dr. Hubbell has many years of experience with this regenerative dermal filler. It is not a wrinkle filler, it’s a volumizer. It replaces the natural volume (fat) loss that occurs as we age – the volume loss that is responsible for the appearance of age. It is the first FDA-approved product of its kind that stimulates your body to replace collagen lost during the aging process.
Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations and hollow eyes. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a safe, synthetic and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of facial aging. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required. Contact us today to learn more!

FAQ's
What’s Sculptra® Aesthetic made of?
Sculptra® is made up of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), a synthetic biodegradable polymer that is both resorbable and biocompatible. PLLA has been widely used for many years in dissolvable sutures so its compatibility with the body is proven.
How does IT work?
Sculptra® is not a wrinkle filler but a bio activator or “volumizer.” It works by stimulating the body to produce new collagen at the sites of injection, thereby replacing lost volume and contours to restore a fuller, more youthful appearance.
Sculptra® does not give results immediately. There is a time factor involved since the true volume effect is created by your own collagen, not the product itself. This collagen replenishment takes place over a period of several months. Patients usually receive more than one injection session to accomplish optimum re-volumization.
Where can Sculptra® Aesthetic be used?
While our faces appear to fall with time, they actually lose volume and deflate. This deflation and volume loss leaves us looking less three-dimensional than we did when we were younger. Volume restoration brings back the dimensional qualities, improves symmetry and can ‘pick up’ sagging skin.
Sculptra® can be used to restore volume to hollow areas of the temples, cheeks, chin and under the eyes, as well as to define the jaw line. It is not recommended for use in and around the lips. Lips and wrinkles are best treated with other products such as Juvederm® or Radiesse®.
How is IT administered?
The treatment consists of a few strategic injections to the areas to be volumized (e.g. temples, cheeks, chin, and jawline). The product is administered using local anesthesia with minimal discomfort.
What are the side effects?
As with all other injections there can be temporary swelling and bruising. Otherwise, there is no ‘downtime.’ Some patients have a brief, but usually not visible, papules under the skin which resolve spontaneously over a period of weeks to months.
How long does Sculptra® Aesthetic last?
The lasting effects of Sculptra® vary from patient to patient; however, studies have shown that some Sculptra patients have seen results lasting up to or greater than two years from the first treatment. Periodic touch-up treatments will maintain the desired effects.
The results from Sculptra® are not immediate; Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Usually it takes three to four sessions spaced out by four to eight weeks between the sessions to complete the treatment. Dr. Hubbell will see you again in a few months after the initial series of injections to decide if additional injections are needed. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects. People with mild lipoatrophy (soft tissue volume loss) will require fewer treatments than those with severe lipoatrophy.
